Galileo Galilei

Galileo Galilei (Pisa, 15 februari 1564 - 8 januari 1642) was een Italiaanse natuurkundige, filosoof en astronoom. Hij was hoogleraar in Pisa (1589-1592) en Padua (1592-1610). In continentaal Europa wordt hij meestal aangeduid als Galilei, in de Angelsaksische wereld kiest men voor zijn voornaam Galileo.
